How packaged are you for Thanksgiving dinner?

When I think of thanksgiving dinner the first word that pops up in my head is STRANG. Yes, 19…..STRANG Avenue was the Thanksgiving spot where my family got together. Every year from my first Thanksgiving in the United States of America in November 1998. All the Uluocha’s and Onukwue’s would gather and have such a great time eating, dancing and basically celebrating Life. We would always end the night by sharing our reason(s) for being thankful that year.

Everything stood out during Thanksgiving dinners at my aunts not just the food. Everything was “packaged” and put together. So Whether you’re heading to a fancy Thanksgiving dinner with family or an informal Friendsgiving party, some sort of celebration this season, one thing you don’t want to do is show up dressed down or empty-handed. Here are 5 tips/Gift ideas to ensure you are packaged for Thanksgiving dinner.

By Dress up, I mean dress up. Wear comfortable but flashy clothes that aligns with the theme and colors of Thanksgiving; autumn, rustic, orangey, burgundy; Infuse the colors of fall 2019 into your look for Thanksgiving dinner this year.

The last thing you want to do is show up at a Thanksgiving dinner empty handed. The least you can do is bring some food; Jerk chicken, apple pie, cake but they most likely have lots of food so ask first about what to bring especially if it is at a family house. But since we are going “all out” this Thanksgiving, go with a Thanksgiving basket.

If you are on a budget, you can take a bottle of wine and some dessert like apple pie or you can DIY a Thanksgiving Basket for your host.

Start with an empty basket and fill it up with some stable items of your choice. Don’t forget to add a keepsake gift for the host and his/her family.

It is Thanksgiving! I am not asking you to forget your worries, I am asking you to pause, take a deep breath and enjoy the moment. Try all the different dishes, mingle, meet someone new, laugh, dance and reminisce on the good things happening in your life. Be thankful for what you have and express your gratitude if you can.

Happy Thanksgiving in advance to you and yours! 🙂
